A kitten is like a small child, for its good growth and full development, proper nutrition is necessary. How to choose a ration for a kitten of the British breed, what is useful and what is absolutely impossible for this funny plush baby?

How to feed a British kitten: determine the type of food

Homemade food or prepared food? Which is better for a purebred British cat? There is no consensus on this, even among breeders. Premium industrial feed is well balanced with a set of trace elements, its texture is developed taking into account the age of the animals. Many manufacturers make special feeds for British cats.

Homemade food attracts owners with its naturalness. Cooking for the kitten ourselves, we are confident in the freshness of the products, the absence of unnecessary additives. However, it should be remembered that homemade food for an animal is not the soup and meatballs that people eat. Cooking for the pet will have to be done separately, as well as supplementing the diet with special vitamin complexes. It is very difficult for a purebred kitten to balance the content of vitamins and minerals in homemade food for a thoroughbred kitten.

What type of food to choose is up to the owners. It is most correct when taking a British kitten out of the cattery to inquire what the baby was fed there. If a certain industrial feed, it is necessary to give it at least for the first time.

It should be remembered that up to three months the British kitten is put only wet food, they begin to transfer to dry gradually. At 3 months, add 10% of the drying, by half a year - 30%, and by the age of one year, the British ration already consists of 70% dry food. At the same time, both drying and wet canned food should be from the same manufacturer.

Having preferred ready-made feed, focus on the premium and super-premium class, cheap brands save on the quality of ingredients and bring the animal more harm than good. Choose food by age and breed. Necessarily - a bowl with always clean drinking water in the public domain.

If the owner of the nursery, where you take the kitten, prefers his own cooked food, find out what foods the baby already eats, how to process them correctly, in what proportion to give. A good breeder is sure to give advice on feeding the little Briton.

How to feed a British kitten: allowed products

Pedigree cats are more selective in food than their street counterparts. And their digestion is more sensitive. Therefore, deciding to feed the British kitten homemade food, responsibly approach the choice of products.

Among the allowed products, first of all, meat. The cat is still a predator, and the British are no exception. A kitten can be given raw or chopped beef raw. You must first hold the meat in the freezer for at least 24 hours, and even better for three days. So you will be sure that raw beef is safe for the baby. Before giving such meat to a kitten, scald it with boiling water. From 3 months you can also include boiled and finely chopped chicken in the diet, from 4-6 - turkey, rabbit, lamb.

In addition to meat, the following products are included in the nutrition of a British kitten:

• milk (only until the age of six months, later it ceases to be absorbed);

• milk porridge;

• boiled chicken yolk;

• canned children's meat (mashed potatoes);

• natural cottage cheese;

• offal;

• cream;

• dairy products;

• vegetables (except potatoes);

• boiled sea fish.

Important! Each serving of food should be fresh, food should not be allowed to lie in a bowl.

How to feed a british kitten: banned foods

It is strictly forbidden to give the British (and any other kittens) river fish. There are too many small bones in it that can seriously harm the baby. In addition, river fish are often infected with dangerous parasites. For purebred purrs - only high-quality sea fish and only in boiled form, while carefully removing all bones.

With milk, too, is not so simple. In cats, it is normally absorbed only up to six months of age. Next, we prefer fermented milk products.

Kittens and adult cats should not be given pork. This is very heavy meat, it is poorly digested.

The banned products for a British kitten also include:

• sweets;

• onions and garlic (they provoke the development of anemia in cats);

• pickles and smoked meats;

• fresh meat.

How to feed a British kitten: make a diet with natural nutrition

Immediately make a reservation that thoroughbred kittens nurseries usually sell no earlier than three months of age. At an earlier age, babies eat breast milk, from about 3-4 weeks they begin to feed them with milk porridges, cream, then add cottage cheese, scalloped beef or special wet food for kittens. We will consider the diet of a British kitten already in the house to the new owners, that is, from three months old.

So, you can give a little Briton:

Daily: raw beef, thawed and scalded with boiling water, finely chopped or in the form of minced meat. Also every day you can include in the diet baby meat puree.

3-4 times a week: raw or boiled meat of a rabbit, turkey, lamb. If we give it raw, be sure to hold it in the freezer for at least 24 hours, then pour over boiling water and finely crumble it.

2-3 times a week:

  • boiled chicken, you can also add chicken stock;
  • chicken yolk (boiled or raw, mixed with cottage cheese or kefir);
  • fermented milk products - natural, without any additives.
  • 1-2 times a week:
  • raw or cooked vegetables: carrots, cabbage, pumpkin, zucchini.
  • cereals - rice, buckwheat, oatmeal;

Once a week:

  • boiled chicken or beef offal (liver, stomachs, heart, tongue, kidneys);
  • low-fat cheese;
  • boiled fillet of sea fish;

Be sure to put a bowl with clean drinking water for the baby, and also include quality vitamins for kittens in the diet.

With the right balanced diet, a small plush purr will grow into a beautiful, imposing, and most importantly healthy representative of the British breed.
