Honey is one of the most healthy and delicious foods.

Honey is stored, maybe several decades, but not at home (at home).

The shelf life of honey in domestic conditions is not more than a year, it depends on which plants were collected pollen, as well as on the correct organization of conditions.

Honey Composition: minerals, carotene, amino acids, vitamins and many more other substances useful for the body.

Honey has a high calorie content, 100 grams contains 300 kilocalories. Due to the fact that honey contains potassium, it is able to destroy bacteria. Bacteria appear in a humid environment, and there they develop, but potassium prevents this moisture and destroys them.

Propolis is a dark brown substance that is produced by bees to cover cracks, if necessary, closes the entrance, as well as in order to ensure natural conservation of honey. The mechanism of propolis production has not yet been established.

Propolis has many useful properties: immunomodulating, disinfecting, dermoplastic.

Enemies of honey: what prevents the long storage of honeycombs

To properly store honey, it is important to understand what exactly you need to be afraid of. Honeycombs are not afraid of germs, because of this, the shelf life of honey is very long. Thanks to propolis, the product does not become solid.

Moisture - one of the enemies of honey, since bees wax is hygroscopic, it is only necessary to exceed the humidity, the product begins to sour.

Honeycomb storage - How to store honeycombs at home. Another enemy to the framework is the sun. Under the influence of sunlight, honeycombs lose their useful properties, and the product becomes completely unnecessary, because of these reasons, beekeepers try to keep the honeycombs in a place where there is no sun, nor high temperatures.

Foe number three is wax moth. Within a few days, the insect travels from the egg to a full-fledged individual up to 3.5 cm long. The activity of the moth manifests itself in the hot period. At a temperature of no more than 10 degrees, the reproduction of moths does not occur. The insect likes musty rooms, if the room temperature is less than 10 degrees, and besides, it is aired, then the attack of a moth does not threaten the combs. Such storage conditions guarantee good product quality.

Mold - the worst enemy of honey (cell). If the moisture in the room is too small, it will appear on the combs - mold. Only cardinal influences will help get rid of this enemy.

Storage conditions for honeycombs at home

Store the cell at a temperature of 3 to 10 degrees. It is better that the products are stored in the basement or in any warehouse. At the same time, make sure that the room is ventilated, and the humidity level is not large. Sudden changes in temperature must not be allowed.

Humidity. It is not difficult to maintain the level of humidity, and the difficulty is to maintain a certain temperature at home, most likely a cooling technique is suitable for such a procedure, so you should take care of the place where the product will be stored in advance. For more convenient storage, the honeycomb is divided into pieces and put in small dishes. Due to the honeycomb sticking together, they should be stored in different containers.

The dishes where the product will be stored should be with a lid, because different smells also affect the storage of honey. Honey perfectly absorbs smells, and if there are a lot of foreign smells in the refrigerator, then soon there will be nothing left of the fragrant smell of honey.

When choosing dishes, be careful. Basically, beekeepers store honey in wooden crates, which are processed putty. For the home, it’s worth picking up other smaller dishes. Honey is best stored in a container that is made of natural material, remember, it must be with a lid.

Important: In an iron dish, it is undesirable to store honey, since compounds that are harmful to humans are formed in such containers.

Shelf life of cells: how much to store cells at home

This section will focus on the shelf life of products. If you observe the temperature regime, then the shelf life of honey products is quite long. Some beekeepers guarantee long-term storage. But still honey is a sweet, and any sweet has a shelf life. It is proved that after about a year, the properties of honey are weakening.

Shelf life of cells is about 3 years, but this is in case all conditions are met. If you have doubts about organized storage, do not store cells for more than a year. Shelf life of cells at room temperature is reduced to six months. When the buyer sees that the honey has become not transparent, but sugared, he thinks that the expiration date is over, but this is not so. Crystallization does not have any effect on the shelf life, on the contrary, if after 2 months the honey has remained transparent, then it is worth thinking about falsification of products.
