Holidays July 19

Day of legal service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia

The Ministry of Internal Affairs Day appeared on the Russian holiday calendar in 2003 - from the moment Boris Gryzlov (then Minister of the Interior) issued a decree. The date for the celebration of this day was chosen with an emphasis on the event of 1946, when on July 19 the legal part joined the Central Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the main duties of which are to give conclusions on all documentation submitted for signature to the Minister of Internal Affairs, as well as his deputies, and advise Office for any emerging legal issues.

With the foundation of the legal part, only nine employees worked in it. Around the same time, the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs began to acquire new legal advisers and individual legal departments. In 1985, the VD authorities issued general rules for systematic legalization. Today, all the heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs traditionally July 19 congratulate their wards on the annual professional holiday. This event is often timed with the award ceremonies of especially distinguished employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs legal services with state awards, diplomas, thanks and, of course, extraordinary ranks.

Sysoev day

Today, in the national calendar, the memory of St. Sysoy (Sisoy) the Great, who was a hermit monk, is noted. His place of residence was a small cave in the Egyptian desert, where the saint spent most of his time in prayers. For sixty years of hermitage, Sysoi achieved the highest spirituality, for which he received a gift of healing from God as a reward. According to legend, this gift was so powerful that once a miracle worker even managed to resurrect a young man who died from a serious illness. Anticipating his own death, the Monk Sysoi said that he was followed by angels and holy apostles, and on his deathbed he told his disciples that he had seen the face of the Most High sitting on a heavenly throne.

In Russia, by this period, as a rule, all sowing work was completed, if they were still ongoing. It was believed that the morning "sysoeva" dew had high healing properties, so the peasants after awakening immediately went into the yard and sprinkled their face with this life-giving moisture in order to gain strength and health. In addition, cattle were lubricated with such dew for its best performance. On this day, the hostesses harvested black currants, and in the evening they cooked delicious berry jam and baked chicken in currant sauce.
